Soak up the sophistication of Juan-les-Pins, Cap d’Antibes or Monaco on the coast, or venture further up into the pristine snows of the French Alps. Known for its world-class shopping you’ll find designer boutiques such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Missoni, Kenzo, Omega, Siegl 1880 and many more. Continuing west is the Vieux Port and then a small hill on which the old town known as Le Suquet is situated. The main tourist season for Cannes is from May to October. Unlike Nice, Cannes has many sandy beaches, with many private beaches lining La Croisette. Just off the coast lies the Lerin Islands, which are reached by a 15 minute boat ride from the Vieux Port. These consist of two islands: one contains an abbey and the other an old fort. Cannes is most famous for its self-named film festival.
