The Destination

Intoxicating cuisine and wine, picturesque olive trees and grape vines, unrivaled culture and couture, timeless history and ambience; Florence, Italy offers more than enough to fall in love with. Italians answer their phones by saying ‘Pronto,’ or ready; ready to engage, to experience and to thrive in the palpable culture all around.

The two Quintess, LRW apartments are located on the estate grounds of the ancient Torre del Gallo castle, a spectacular building with a 1,200-year history. At one time the castle controlled the road into Florence from Chianti and was where the tax collector levied taxes on all goods coming into town from the countryside. Situated south of the river Arno and on the summit of the hill at Arcetri, which is the highest elevation in the city, its location overlooking both the city and the countryside has always been strategic.

Everything was great in Italy. The Club apartment, with the pool and its hillside setting, was a refuge from the heat and crowds of Florence. The local restaurant was wonderful and they had a small market in the morning for bread, eggs and milk. I would definitely tell people to use I Bike Tuscany, as they combine unique knowledge of biking and the area, and Elizabeth, our guide, was also a certified sommelier, which added to the wine tasting experience. Her partner Marco was also extremely personable.
