“Charley was a wonderful Host; she sent us in the right direction from the very start. Her friend Falvio owns the restaurant La Peghera di Baccio in Radda in Chianti, which is near the Terra Toscana villa. We highly recommend all Members visit. We ended up there three times for dinner and lunch during our stay. Flavio was over-the-top accommodating! Also, we recommend taking a car service into Florence if you are traveling with a large group. Parking at times can be very difficult, especially if you are trying to make a tour on time!”
“Fata, the cook at Terra Toscana, made the most delicious meals. It was such a pleasure to stay in at night and be served by her and her son. Another highlight was having the Tuscan Mammas come over one night to give us a cooking class; they are two delightful ladies.”
“I would suggest planning to spend more time relaxing and enjoying the immediate area of Radda. We spent a lot of time touring the different cities like Florence, Sienna and San Gimignano, which we all enjoyed — but it would be great to go to Terra Toscana in the warmer months and just relax!”
“Our Host and I discussed the fact that Members need down time during their stay as there is a lot of driving involved with all the sightseeing. Don’t try to fit numerous activities/sights into one day, especially if consuming lots of wine is a part of the agenda. If I could change one thing about our trip, I would not have planned an activity for every day as we needed more time to rest. If you are visiting Florence for an entire day, it is too much to stay for a late dinner there as well and then drive back to the home as it takes over an hour to drive back to Villa Tavernaccia.”
“The lunch we had a Badia e Coultibona was wonderful; great setting and excellent food and wine. While it is a touch far from Villa Tavernaccia, where we were staying, it is relatively close to the other Terra Toscana in Radda.”
“The cooking experience with Lori De Mori was outstanding. Fata’s dinner in the home was also exceptional. Gino at Casa Verranzono gave a wonderful tour of the winery and really engaged the kids with wonderful stories.”
“The place we ate at on our final night was not recommended by the Host, though I think she may remember it. It was close to Villa Tavernaccia and we really enjoyed it. Not a five-star, but good food, easy to get to, convenient. Go out the driveway, take a right, down to the intersection, take a left, maybe 1-2 miles toward Florence. It’s on the left, and we ate outdoors above the road.”
“Our Terra Toscana Host, Charley, was fantastic. Her restaurant recommendations were wonderful, however having the housekeeper Fata cater our pizza and pasta night was a highlight. We all enjoyed the food, it was better than the restaurants and our friends loved just spending the evening at the villa. The whole trip was magical.”
“A visit to Fattoria La Massa winery is definitely a great experience. We were greeted like friends. They are not generally open to the public, but they will take small groups if arranged pre-arrival.”
“Villa Tavernaccia offers a real taste of Tuscany and is beautiful. Villa Bordoni is a real treat for dinner. Fontodi winery is a waste of time.”
“I would suggest not trying to pack so much into the time that you are there. Definitely plan to do a guided day tour of Florence, just not the day after you arrive.”
